Silkroad tiles can be in.stalled using either the traditional adhesive method, which creates a permanent installation, or our proprietary magnetic system*, which provides simplicity and portability. Wall applications are recommended in adhesive only.

General Instructions
- Install in a clean, dust-free environment after all other site construction has been completed
- Avoid installation in areas with less than 20% average humidity or in high moisture areas such as building thresholds
- Allow tiles to acclimate on site in opened boxes for at least two weeks before installing
- Boxes should be on edge so tiles fan allowing air to circulate
Adhesive Floor + Wall Application
- Do not apply tiles directly to drywall, plywood is the recommended substrate for adhesive floor and wall tiles
- Ensure surface is perfectly even by counter-sinking screws and leveling all indentations and seams with a filling compound
- Once compound has dried, sand level and vacuum thoroughly
- It is advised to paint the substrate black to minimize plywood show through between tile seams
- Brush and/or roll two coats of recommended premium-grade latex contact cement to both substrate and back of tile. IMPORTANT: Allow first coat (which acts as a sealer for both substrate and tile) to dry completely before applying second coat (which acts as the adhesive).Tiles may be set in place once second coat is allowed to dry according to manufacturer?s instructions
- Avoid getting cement on the finished side of the tile or allowing cement to build up on the edge of the tile
- Chalk-line a center grid and begin laying tile from center point
- Tiles can be easily trimmed with a heavy duty snap-blade razor knife
- Using a steel rule as a guide, tiles should be carefully cut with a perpendicular edge; apply edge dye provided to raw edge before installing
- Roll tiles using tile roller with a minimum of 40 psi to ensure complete bonding between tile and substrate
- Prior to using your new floor, apply a light coat of the beeswax provided with your order, let try completely then buff with soft cloth
- Floor tiles may be bonded directly to a finished concrete floor or other cement-type substrate.
- Ensure surface is clean and level
- Scar surface with rough sandpaper; then vacuum, wash and dry floor thoroughly
Tiles should not react adversely to radiant-heat flooring provided the temperature and humidity do not fluctuate rapidly.

Magnetic Floor Application
- Clean and level subfloor thoroughly
- Place Blackstock steel substrate sheets on floor with the black side facing up
- Ensure that sheets are butted together but do not overlap
- Tack sheets at corners with cellophane tape to prevent shifting during installation
- Where necessary, cut sheets with straight-edged tin snips or pneumatic shearer (recommended) and de-bur with a metal file
- Tiles can be easily trimmed with a heavy duty snap blade razor knife
- Using a steel rule as a guide, tiles should be carefully cut with a perpendicular edge; apply edge dye provided to raw edge before installing
- lay down leather tiles ensuring that tile seams and metal substrate seems always overlap
- Prior to using your new floor, apply a light coat of the beeswax provided with your order, let dry completely then buff with soft cloth
